There is nothing worse than being 5 miles deep into the woods and realizing you forgot something essential. Whether you are hitting a quick local loop or an all-day epic, having your gear dialed is critical.
Here are the top 5 things we recommend having on every ride:
1. A Spare Tube Flat tires happen to the best of us. Always carry a spare tube (even if you run tubeless!) and a way to inflate it. It’s the number one rule of self-sufficiency on the trail.
2. Eye Protection You only get one pair of eyes. Whether it’s harsh UV rays, a rogue tree branch, or mud flying off the tire of the rider in front of you, riding without protection is a risk. A good pair of riding glasses improves contrast on the trail and keeps your vision clear so you can focus on the line ahead.
3. Multi-Tool Loose bolts or a twisted chain can end a ride instantly. A compact multi-tool can fix 90% of trailside mechanicals. Don’t leave the parking lot without one.
4. Post-Ride Comfort The “Après-ride” is just as important as the ride itself. Once you are off the trail and loading up the truck, having a fresh, dry hoodie or a warm drink makes the drive home much better.
5. Sticker Swag Okay, this one won’t fix a flat, but stickers are the universal language of MTB culture. Slapping a sticker on your helmet, cooler, or bike rack shows support for your local community and the brands you love.
The Bottom Line: Preparation prevents frustration. Double-check your gear, grab your glasses, and hit the trails with confidence!
